FEATURED SPEAKERS

Stephen S. Mehler, M.A. is an author and Independent Egyptologist. In 1992, Stephen Mehler met Egyptologist and indigenous wisdom keeper Abd’El Hakim Awyan in Egypt. After further trips to Egypt to work in the field with Hakim in 1997, 1998 and twice in 1999, Stephen wrote his first book, The Land Of Osiris, published in 2001. Stephen and Hakim have redefined the field as Khemitology, not Egyptology. Further work with Hakim in Egypt in 2003 and 2004 have resulted in Stephen’s latest book, From Light Into Darkness: The Evolution Of Religion In Ancient Egypt, published by Adventures Unlimited Press. Stephen is currently Director of Research for the Great Pyramid of Giza Research Association.

Andrea Mikana-Pinkham is the Director of the Sacred Journeys division of Body Mind Spirit Journeys. She has been leading groups to Egypt since 2000. One of the greatest passions in her life is to assist others to travel to and connect with the transformative energies at sacred sites around the world. Andrea is a member of the Fellowship of Isis and is closely connected with Isis, as well as Hathor and Sekhmet. During the sacred journey Andrea will facilitate sacred ceremonies, meditations and other initiation rituals to assist you to connect with the powerful energies of the Egyptian Gods and Goddesses (Neters).

Ms. Vivian Zaki, PhD, Egyptologist/Tour Guide, has worked with Body Mind Spirit Journeys for several years. Our groups have found her to be extremely knowledgeable, very professional, and also very warm and friendly. Vivian has a degree in Archaeology and Tourism, with over 15 years experience guiding groups in Egypt.

TOUR DIRECTOR

Ashraf William has also worked with Body Mind Spirit Journeys for several years as our Tour Director. He is very supportive of our special needs and makes "magic" happen to get us in to the temples for our meditations and ceremonies, often with private time.

Abd'El Hakim Awyan, or Hakim, as he is generally known, is anEgyptian born and trained Egyptologist and archaeologist who has been an active tour guide and authority on ancient Egypt for over 55 years. He has also spent the majority of his life gathering and synthesizing the oral traditions of his native country for over 70 years. He is internationally known as an Indigenous Wisdom Keeper and recognized Elder of the village of Nazlet el-Samman, located near the Giza Plateau. Hakim, along with our Speaker Stephen S. Mehler, MA has founded the discipline of Khemitology which coalesces the indigenous oral traditions with his own personal observations, experiences and conclusions about the ancient civilization of Egypt known as Khemit. These conclusions differ greatly from the academic and Western traditions of Egyptology.

Shahrzad Awyan

Shahrzad is the daughter of Abd'El Hakim Awyan and has been chosen by her Father to receive the teachings of the indigenous Wisdom Keepers, to teach them to those that are ready to receive them. She grew up in the village of Nazlet el-Samman, located near the Giza Plateau. At age 6 she went into the King's Chamber of the Great Pyramid and spontaneously started toning ancient sounds. Today she uses this sound healing technique in her healing sessions. Shahrzad lived on the Big Island of Hawaii for several  years. She returned home to Egypt to find that the hands-on healing techniques she had learned while living there had their origins in ancient Egypt. When she told Hakim about the work she was doing, he took her to Sakkara and showed her scenes on the walls of some of the tombs and temples, showing the Egyptian people using the same healing techniques! Shahrzad will share these ancient healing techniques with those who attend her post-tour class, November 23 - 25, 2008

Gamal Abd'El Sami Zaki

Gamal is a cousin to the Awyan family. He and Shahrzad grew up together as children, playing near the Sphinx and Great Pyramid on the Giza Plateau. His Mother, Almira, was one of the most influential women in the Village of Nazlet el-Samman, working tirelessly to improve the rights of women. Gamal's family has operated the aromatherapy business that he runs for several generations. They raise many of the plants that produce the essential oils they make. Gamal is very knowledgeable about the ancient Egyptian art of aromatherapy, which oils to use to stimulate the various chakras in our bodies, as well as to use for healing various physical, emotional and mental ailments. He is also an excellent psychic and healer, having studied for several years with Bedouin Elders and Wisdom Keepers in eastern Egypt near the Red Sea. Gamal will offer a training session in ancient Egyptian healing techniques, including the essential oils to use for the upper 8 chakras above the body, with those who attend his post-tour class, November 23 - 25, 2008
