What is a vortex?
A vortex is a place where energy goes in and/or out of a system. Examples are
earth vortexes, chakras & acupuncture points in our bodies, and galaxies and black
holes in the Universe. Scientific experiments have shown that vortex energy moves in a
spiraling way (vertere, Latin for spiraling). Earth Vortexes are found in many places
around the planet. Sedona has many, and a very large variety of types. When in proximity
to these places, you may be affected to varying degrees; some people feel more relaxed and
meditative in some spots, or more energized in others.

FEATURED SPEAKER:
Allan M. Holender
As a leadership
and team building trainer, Allan has developed and delivered programs to
colleges, universities, hospitals, and the corporate world.
He has mentored entrepreneurs, CEOs, and senior management from some of North America's
top-ranked companies. He is also a popular media personality and commentator in
Canada and the United States, having hosted a nationally syndicated business radio show on
the Talk America radio network. As a speaker he has
addressed thousands across Canada and the United States, and captured a worldwide audience
through his web-related media appearances.
Allan gained his knowledge through first-hand experience as a business owner,
"serial" entrepreneur, CEO, manager, leadership expert, teacher, writer, and
broadcaster. He delivers his life lessons with both passion and humor - helping
others to create that all important balance between all the elements of one's life.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Allan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University
of Montana. He went on to graduate school and shortly thereafter
began a long career with the Big Brothers organization. Later he assumed
senior administrative positions in advancement with the Universities of British
Columbia and Alberta. Allan is a pioneer in the fund development industry, having
founded two professional associations.
Allan is the author of Zentrepreneurism: A 21st Century Guide to the New World
of Business, the revolutionary new book that has people talking. It has been
called by many "North America's wake up call" or "The Inconvenient Truth
about American Business"!
Not every generation is privileged to see the start of a future. We are - and in
Zentrepreneurism, Allan Holender has acted as its revelator, its prophet, if you will. We
are used to thinking of prophets as heralds of a far-off future. But prophets simply
crystallize what is ready to be born. The world of social and natural capitalism, the
world of full-life living, the world of service coupled with entrepreneurial behavior that
this book and movement represents has been building for the past thirty years. With
this revelation, the business world - and our personal lives - are destined to change.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING: Allan Holender has looked unflinchingly at the
dark and self-destructive aspects of our business culture that most commentators ignore or
deny. Zentrepeneurism, the profound but practical philosophy that he dramatically outlines
in this book builds upon capitalism's most powerful assets while infusing it with a higher
purpose. It is more than a new business model. It is an inspiring new value system for
business leaders, a guidepost for the 21st Century.
Robert L. FitzPatrick, Business analyst and author, False Profits
"Allan Holender reveals the valueless and destructive tendencies of contemporary
business while remaining passionately and optimistically committed to the possibility of a
better future."
Joel Bakan, author, The Corporation
"With Zen you learn that arrows reach their mark because they belong there, the
archer only assists. Zentrepeneurism is an ethos - already in use
- whos time has come, and Allan Holender is the messenger. Allan has
emerged from the fires of greed-based capitalism ahead of his time, showing the way
business will be in the future. That said, the future is now."
Yves Farges, Founder, CEO Qualifirst Group
"This book is a passionate, profound invitation to stop thinking
about business and life as it should be and to start experiencing it as it
could be."
Stuart Avery Gold author, Ping A Frog in Search of a New Pond
Allan Holender is quite the guy: open seeker, Yiddish jokester, empathetic listener,
articulate ethicistkeen and sincere to raise consciousness in the corporate world.
To manifest his vision, he has midwifed Zentrepreneurship to spark and serve
a need to develop ethics and spirituality within the mundane and sometimes dirty world of
business. He cites many examples of leaders who have incorporated varying measures of
ethics and spirit into their entrepreneurial organizations. Zen philosophy and practice
evolved many centuries ago. Contemplative in nature and sudden in awakening, Zen has come
to mean for many in the West a serene state of awareness, where the great is perceived and
realized in the small; where peace comes from within; where wisdom is without
wordsdefying description, when the darkness of ignorance is dispelled by
enlightenment.
Whether Buddhist, Christian, Jew, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, agnostic, Eastern or Western,
anyone can enjoy a Zen moment at any time by attuning ones consciousness
to a higher level, by shifting gear, by becoming still and deeply aware. The beauty of
meditation practice is that it often spills over into ones mundane life even
into ones business enterprise, if thus called upon, enhancing, enriching, inspiring,
and affecting the environment for the better. Zentrepreneurship is an excellent and
often humorous guide for those wishing to blend entrepreneurship with their higher
aspirations, and what better man than Allan Holender to accomplish this! Read the book,
and take something of value from it.
Arran Stephens, founder and CEO of Natures Path North Americas
largest organic breakfast foods company
Allan's highly acclaimed speaking presentations on "Creating Passion, Purpose
and Profits with Integrity" have gained national attention. His website has
become a forum for the world-wide growth of the Zentrepreneurism movement.

Day
2. Monday, October 6. Zentreat and Airport Mesa Vortex (B)
Enjoy a
delicious breakfast at the hotel. Then your Zentreat with Allan begins!
Zentreat Session # 1: ZENNING YOUR BUSINESS (The Blended Bottom Line):
This session delivers six steps to infuse your
corporate culture with trust, compassion and purpose. It features transparency in
relationships to shareholders, to employees, and to the general public. Transparency
is the hallmark of an enterprise that has integrity. Firms that present truthful
information, operate openly, and stand behind their word make their risks more manageable.
According to Allan, "People are expecting more from the companies they're doing
business with and more from the companies they're buying from".
Zentrepreneurial Leadership: What does it mean?
What business entrepreneurs are to the economy, Zentrepreneurs are to social
change. They are the driven, creative individuals, who question the status quo,
exploit new opportunities, refuse to give up, and remake the world for the better. Social
entrepreneurship is the process of recognizing and relentlessly pursuing
opportunities to create social value. Zentrepreneurs are innovative, resourceful, and
results oriented. They draw upon the best thinking in both the business and nonprofit
worlds to develop strategies that maximize their social impact.
These entrepreneurial leaders operate in all kinds of organizations:
large and small; new and old; religious and secular; nonprofit, for-profit, and hybrid.
These organizations comprise the "social sector.
Zentrepreneurism focuses more broadly on innovative, resourceful, and opportunity-oriented
responses to social issues, problems, and challenges. We see social entrepreneurship not
as a specific tool, method or type of program, but rather as an approach to
creating social value that embraces the fundamental principles of entrepreneurship.
This session explains what it takes to be a Zentrepreneur. A look at some
of the new heroes of social entrepreneurship, and the growing movement of
"green" (and organic) consumers who want to know whether company's products, its
manufacturing methods, and its policies respect the integrity of the environment and the
people on the planet. Social entrepreneurship is really about applying practical,
innovative and sustainable approaches that benefit society in general. The
companies that succeed on this path will be on the cutting edge of the new 21st century
frontier of doing business.
By the end of the week you will know your true destiny, cause and calling. At
which time your identity as a social sector leader will emerge.
Lunch break at noon. Lunch on your own. Sedona offers numerous restaurants with a variety
of natural, ethnic and/or continental cuisine. There are some restaurants within walking
distance of the hotel or you can book the hotel shuttle to take you to a restaurant and
come back to pick you up.
In the
afternoon we depart to Airport Mesa Vortex, with magnificent views of the
Sedona area. Bring your camera! AND
prepare yourself for a potent
time, as this power spot lies at the apex of a triangle uniting three of the four
main vortexes. In other words - it's really "charged!" Mark Pinkham
will share information about the geological and esoteric history of Sedona.
Then he and Andrea will lead an Opening Ceremony to help you begin to
connect with the powerful Red Rock energies of Sedona!
Return to the hotel. Free time for rest and integration; don't forget those luscious
sunset views from the hotel balcony! Dinner on your own with the group at a local
restaurant to celebrate Allan's Birthday!

Day 3. Tuesday,
October 7. Zentreat & Bell Rock Vortex (B)
Awake a bit
early today to take in the sunrise from the communal balcony outside your room. Enjoy
another great breakfast in the hotel breakfast area. Your second Zentreat day with Allan
begins afterwards.
Zentreat Session # 2: DISCOVERING YOUR TRUE PURPOSE AND
PASSION: "The Ten Year Old Project"
Theorists have said that whatever we loved to do when we were ten years old,
was what we would wind up doing at some point in our life. This would become our true
passion and our greatest enjoyment. Until that time, we were just doing our
"jobs". What did you love to do when you were ten years old?
This session is about the endless opportunities to leave your footprint, helping you
identify the three most important questions in your life:
1) What is your Destiny? 2) What is your Cause? 3) What is your Calling?
You will leave this inspiring session with a clearer understanding of your purpose
and your passion.
Lunch break at noon. Lunch on your own.
This afternoon we
visit Bell Rock, the great sentinel and beacon of Sedona's principal
vortexes. We'll take an easy walk on the formation a short way and enjoy the incredible
views! Here, where the upward flowing energies assist to send out prayers and
affirmations, Andrea and Mark will lead a Meditation and Ceremony for World Peace.
Return to the hotel. Take time to integrate. Dinner on your own.
Bell Rock Photo Credit: Irv
Lefberg www. iflphotogallery.com
Day 4. Wednesday,
October 8. Zentreat & Cathedral Rock Vortex (B)
Awake
a bit early today to take in the sunrise from the communal balcony outside your room.
Enjoy another great breakfast in the hotel breakfast area. Your third Zentreat day with
Allan begins afterwards.
Zentreat Session #3: CREATING YOUR LIFE
PLAN
After interviewing hundreds of
successful Zentrepreneurs, Allan has discovered one surprising note that appears time
after time: business success alone does not bring them personal happiness.
This is certainly contrary to popular notions about capitalistic dreams, contrary to what
most media suggests, contrary to what most CEO's, business owners and high achievers think
when starting out.
In this highly interactive session Allan will guide you through ways of assessing
your life, about those "aha" moments, and recall past
introspective experiences.
Each participant will explore the notion of balance and do a personal
assessment of their life, bearing in mind that it's not how you
start, it's where you finish.
During the session, participants will explore many forms of introspection
using the group's experience as a departure point. The session will involve the
undertaking of several small group and individual exercises that will
deepen the exploration and surface elements for reflection and introspection. Participants
will leave the session with a much clearer picture of themselves and what they are all
about.
This work may cause some to increase efforts in business and some to search
out meaning in other areas of life. The work will enhance the reflective practice
for some and start the journey for others. Each participant will leave with a
"Life's Plan", secure in the knowledge that in the process they have also
completed a meaningful step towards increasing his or her "Return on Life". And,
as is always the case in Allan's workshops, everyone will have fun!
Lunch break at noon. Lunch on your own.
After lunch we visit Cathedral Rock, one of Sedona's most famous vortex
sites, representing beauty and spirituality for people worldwide. We
take an easy walk to magnificent vista points.
At a nearby medicine wheel, Andrea and Mark will facilitate a traditional
Four Directions Ceremony to harness the energies that abound here, to
soothe and balance our body, mind and spirit!
Cathedral Rock Photo Credit: Irv Lefberg www.
iflphotogallery.com
Return to the hotel. Dinner on your own and free time to meet with others in the group for
lively interchange of ideas from your Zentreat and to share your experiences at the
vortex.
Day 5.
Thursday, October 9. Red Rock Crossing at Oak Creek & Free Time in Sedona (B)
After breakfast we head out to Red Rock
Crossing for a easy walk along Oak Creek. Take in its soothing
and calming energies, as well as the incredible views of Cathedral Rock.
At Buddha Beach, you can use the beach rocks in an active
meditation to build a small stupa and focus your intent for clarity on an
issue in your life. You'll also have private time for individual meditation.
Return to the hotel for another lunch on your own. Then you have an entire
afternoon free to explore Sedona on your own! Take a Jeep Tour,
enjoy a massage, energy work session, psychic reading, past life regression, or tarot
reading. For a bit of Retail Therapy, visit the local metaphysical bookstores or crystal
shops. What goodies are awaiting you to take home for yourself or others? Or take in
incredible paintings and sculptures at some of the finest art galleries in the Southwest.
Dinner on your own.
Day 6.
Friday, October 10. Optional Full Day Excursion to the Grand Canyon (includes lunch) OR
Free Day in Sedona; Farewell Dinner (B/D)
Take the optional full day excursion to the Grand
Canyon, considered by the ancient Hopi people of the area to be the great womb of
Mother Earth.
Designated a National Monument in 1908, a National Park
in 1919 and a World Heritage Site in 1979, it is one of the most
spectacular examples of erosion anywhere in the world,
and is unmatched in the incomparable vistas it offers. Enjoy your boxed lunch, then take
the park service bus along the breathtaking canyon rims. Walk in beauty and peace! Who
knows?? Maybe you'll be blessed by a visit from one of the giant Condors that swoop over
the canyon rim! Return to the hotel early evening in time for our farewell dinner.
OR, you have a free
day in Sedona for more exploration and enjoyment on your own. (Lunch on your
own.) If you'd like to rent a car for a day, there are several points of interest
nearby to explore. The old mining town of Jerome in the hills above
nearby Clarkdale, known as "America's Most Vertical City" and "Largest
Ghost Town in America" is a current day mecca for artists and ghost hunters. West
Fork State Park on 89A towards Flagstaff has many beautiful hiking trails that
wind through the canyons and along Oak Creek. Montezuma's Well located
close to the nearby small town of Rimrock. The Well is a
natural limestone sinkhole through which some 1,400,000 gallons of water flow each day.
The Well's outflow has been used for irrigation since the 8th century. Part of a
prehistoric canal is preserved at the picnic ground, and portions of the original Hohokam
canal are still in use today. In 1968, Montezuma Well was the subject of the first ever
underwater archaeological survey to take place in a National Park, lead by archaeologist
George R Fischer.
We gather this evening for our Farewell Dinner, a time to enjoy a meal of
delicious Southwest cuisine, share with each other our visions, hopes and dreams that we
will be taking home from mystical and magical Sedona.
Day 7.
Saturday, October 10. Depart Sedona (B)
After breakfast, depart on the
shuttle for Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix to connect with your afternoon flight home. We recommend that you do
not book your flight to depart before 1:00PM. Or, depart on your own.
